Admissions Process

Sand Hill School students

Our carefully-designed admission process helps us identify students who will benefit most from Sand Hill’s specialized and personalized approach.

New students are accepted based on completion of the steps outlined below and whether there is an available class placement that we determine would address the child’s learning needs.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school year.

Please allow adequate time to complete the entire admissions process. Also note that the admissions process is separate and independent from the financial aid process. Find out more about financial aid at Sand Hill School.

Part One

Getting Started

Schedule a Virtual Sand Hill School Information Tour. The virtual tour lasts about 30-40 minutes and includes time to chat with a Sand Hill School staff person to ask questions. Courtesy review of ed-psych testing report provided.

Schedule a Visit

If you have questions about whether Sand Hill School is the right fit for your child, please email the Admission team at admission@chconline.org . Please include your child’s age, desired grade, diagnosis, and IEP/assessments so we can better assist you.

Part Three

Getting to Know Your Child

Once we receive notice that your application is complete via Gradelink, we will contact you to:

  1. Request copies of any psycho-educational tests/evaluations you may have for your child from the past two years. Please upload these reports/forms to your Gradelink account.
  2. Once the admissions team has reviewed your child’s report, we will reach out to schedule a shadow visit. This will be a minimum of two consecutive days where our admissions team will make observations while your child participates in the typical Sand Hill school day.  During the shadow experience, we will also conduct a child interview during which we will spend about 30 minutes one-on-one with your child. This child interview gives us the opportunity to engage your child in some specific learning activities and experience their response.
Part Four

Getting to Know the Parents

After the student shadow experience, the Admissions Director will contact you to schedule a parent interview. During the parent interview, we will provide you with feedback (including the shadow experience and child interview) and answer remaining questions you may have about Sand Hill School.

Part Five

Admission Decision

Decisions regarding enrollment are typically made within two weeks of the student shadow experience.

If you have any questions about the application, Gradelink, or anything else during the admissions process, please contact Admissions Coordinator Julia Rodriguez at jrodriguez@chconline.org or call 650.688.3605.
