March 13 Coronavirus Update

Dear Parents, Clients and Friends of CHC,

As we all make our way through the uncharted waters of COVID-19, the health and safety of our clients, students, families and staff are the top priority, so we are reaching out to you. The situation remains fluid. Guidelines have been changing on a daily/hourly basis. Our Emergency Response Team has been closely monitoring the rapidly-changing situation so we can make responsible decisions and keep you informed.

Just a few hours ago, the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health issued an order imposing a mandatory moratorium on gatherings of 100 or more and a conditional moratorium on gatherings of 35 to 100. The order continued with a statement about school closure. These measures are being taken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Download the guidelines from Santa Clara County.

Update from CHC

SCHOOLS

Both Sand Hill School and EBC Schools will be going to a distance learning model effective March 16 with a possible return to school on April 7, depending on the situation. Chief Schools Officer Chris Harris and his team will be leading this effort with students and parents.

CLINICAL SERVICES

We are moving many of our clinical services to telehealth where appropriate and in compliance with public health measures and practices. Individual clinicians and our care team are making arrangements with existing clients to provide telehealth options where appropriate. We understand that the community’s mental health needs remain the same and often increase in times like these. As such, CHC continues to accept new referrals. We are here to support you and your family. Please reach out to us for any need at Careteam@chconline.org. Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Ramsey Khasho and his leadership team continue to monitor the situation

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Community Education classes will be going to a webinar model that begins Tuesday, March 17 so that folks can continue to access content from those sessions. Details are available in the Community Ed Weekly that goes out each week as well as on Eventbrite.

CHC BUILDINGS

CHC offices will remain open.

A Reminder: Widespread reporting and potential misinformation about Coronavirus can be anxiety-provoking for many, but especially for children/teens and those who struggle with anxiety. It’s important to have developmentally-appropriate conversations utilizing facts with your child/teen about the coronavirus and minimize sensationalized, long-term media exposure. The experts at CHC support the field’s best-practices and talking points recently published by Child Mind Institute (CMI) on talking to kids about Coronavirus. If you need further consultation about how to best speak with your child or have concerns regarding your child’s anxiety, please contact our Care Team for a free 30-minute consultation with one of our providers.
